 Vision Scholarships Requirements

Vision Scholarship Logo. What's required of you to get this scholarship?

Girl holding dollar bills. There is no application form to fill out. You simply must apply for admission to NJC by March 1st and show proof that you have a 3.0 GPA at the time you apply. This can be documented by submitting a high school grade transcript showing your GPA. Read our Frequently Asked Questions here.

In order to qualify for this scholarship you must also:

  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You may do this at www.fafsa.edu.gov   Try to have this done no later than April 1. NJC’s school code is 001361
  • Be a Colorado resident for tuition classification purposes. Your parent(s)or legal guardians must be legal Colorado resident(s) for a minimum of one year in order for you to qualify for in-state tuition classification.
  • Register for the College Opportunity Fund (COF) which provides you some state funded tuition assistance.
  • Register at NJC as a full time student, taking a minimum of 12 credits per semester.

What's required of you to keep this scholarship?

In order to keep your Vision Scholarship, you must do one of two things.

  • 1) Maintain a 3.0 gpa in your classes here or
  • 2) Spend a total of 50 hours per semester in the college’s Comprehensive Learning Center on campus. This is a tutorial center designed to help you succeed in your classes. If your gpa falls below 3.0 and you do not spend the required time in the CLC, you will lose the scholarship. However, you will have an opportunity to regain it again if you bring your academic performance back up to the 3.0 gpa level and you’ve spent time in the CLC.

One more thing you need to know

Seniors, take note. If you do not qualify for this Vision Scholarship right now because your high school gpa is less than what we require, there’s still hope for you. You can go ahead and enroll at NJC (we are an open enrollment campus) and work to bring your college grades up to the required gpa and then you will still be eligible for this Vision Scholarship based on whatever your semester of enrollment might be. (I.e. If you become eligible after one semester at NJC your freshman year, you would receive the 9 credit scholarship your second semester of that year and then receive the scholarship your sophomore year so long as you remain academically eligible per semester.)  At NJC, we measure success one student at a time. We want to help you succeed!
