Northeastern Junior College

Information for Advisors

Financing a student's education doesn't end with the students freshmen year.  Whether they are attending returning to NJC or transferring to a four-year institution, students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as well as scholarship applications each year during their college education.

The following is a checklist for you to give to your adivsees to help them with financial aid deadlines.

  • If needed, apply for your Personal Identification Number (PIN).  Your PIN allows you to complete your FAFSA online, as well as, making corrections and checking the status of your application. Student should write down PIN and security question/answer to help them remember.
  • Begin completing scholarship applications.  Watch for deadlines, most applications are due by March 1 each year.
  • Have you and/or your parents' Federal Taxes completed as soon as possible.
  • Begin completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as early as January 1.
  • Complete your FAFSA before March 1.  Funding for certain programs (work study and grants) is limited and awarded on a first come first served basis.
  • Student must have declared a program of study to be eligible for financial aid. If a student is undeclared, register as Liberal Arts, A.A. until they deide a program.

If students have questions, or would like assistance with their applications have them visit with the Financial Aid Office.  We are here to help!
